Legal
ACP is built on a carefully designed legal framework that balances openness with protection. The protocol specification is freely available, the code is source-available under BSL 1.1, and the brand is protected by trademark policy.
This section covers the complete licensing structure, contributor agreements, and trademark guidelines for the ACP ecosystem.
Licensing Structure
ACP uses a 6-layer licensing scheme. Each project layer has its own license chosen to fit its purpose -- from CC-BY-4.0 for the protocol specification to BSL 1.1 for the reference implementation.
Contributor License Agreement
Individual and Corporate CLAs that document the rights granted by contributors. Covers copyright grants, patent grants, representations, and how to sign.
Trademark Policy
Protected marks, permitted and restricted uses, fork policy, and attribution format for the ACP brand, logo, and related trademarks.
