Trademark Policy

This policy protects the meaning and reputation of the ACP brand, prevents user confusion about what is and is not official ACP, and clarifies what requires permission. Version 1.0, effective April 9, 2026.

Protected Marks

The following are trademarks of ACP Research Initiative, collectively referred to as "the Marks":

Permitted Use (no permission needed)

You may use the Marks without asking in the following cases:

  1. Referring to the ACP project in text, articles, blog posts, talks, or academic papers (nominative use).
    Example: "Our system uses the ACP protocol for consensus."
  2. Linking to the official website (axiomprotocol.org).
  3. Describing compatibility with ACP.
    Example: "Compatible with ACP v4.0"
  4. Community projects that are clearly unofficial.
    Example: "Unofficial ACP Client for Rust" (the word "unofficial" is required)

Restricted Use (permission required)

You must get written permission to:

  1. Use "ACP" or "Axiom Consensus Protocol" as part of your product name, company name, domain name, or service name.
  2. Use the ACP logo or phi-spiral design mark in your product, website, or marketing materials.
  3. Imply official endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation with ACP.
  4. Create merchandise (t-shirts, stickers, etc.) bearing the Marks.
  5. Register any domain name containing "acp" or "axiomprotocol".

Prohibited Use

You may not:

  1. Use the Marks in a way that suggests ACP endorses your product (unless ACP actually does).
  2. Modify the logo (colors, proportions, elements).
  3. Use the Marks in a misleading, defamatory, or illegal manner.
  4. Register the Marks as your own trademark in any jurisdiction.

Important

Prohibited uses are not subject to permission requests. These uses are not allowed under any circumstances.

Fork Policy

If you fork the ACP codebase (which the license permits):
